Tools to Build Great Leaders

Clark Neuhoff Execution

We are all leaders!  Some of us lead organizations, some lead teams.  We all aspire to be market leaders within our niches (if not, then we need to have a separate conversation).  We all need to be thought leaders, championing our ideas to advance the organizations that we are a part of.

In his book Leadership Gold, Lessons I’ve Learned from a Lifetime of Leading John C. Maxwell has compiled 26 ways that we can all become more effective leaders.  What I like about this book is that you can take one chapter a week, learn the concept and then practice the Application Exercises so that you can internalize the concept as you master the skill.  In six months you will become a better leader on multiple levels.

My clients often hear me say “Leaders build leaders!”   The #1 job of everyone who manages people is to develop the leadership skills in those who work for you, those you serve.  This book is an excellent curriculum for that as well.  Simply take two weeks for each chapter and spend the second one going through it with someone you are mentoring.  In a year, you will both be stronger leaders and your business will be better for it.

If you’re not ready for the whole book just start with one of my personal favorites – Chapter 13 Don’t Manage Your Time – Manage Your Life.  Maxwell offers several practical ways to look at the importance of having clear purpose/goals, and the value of making the most of your time; to your business, to your family and to yourself.  What could be more important?

In the EOS Process™, we teach a couple of tools that help our clients bring laser focus to their purpose/direction and their priorities. They are the Vision/Traction Organizer, V/TO and setting Quarterly Rocks or priorities.  Maxwell’s insights and these simple proven tools are a powerful combination.

If you would like to know more about them please call or email me and we will get them to you free of charge.
